Home Palliative Care: Bringing Comfort and Dignity
In April 2015, the Kurian Foundation partnered with Bangalore Baptist Hospital (BBH) to launch the Bangalore Baptist Hospital–Kurian Foundation Rural Palliative Care Project. This initiative was born out of a deep commitment to serve those in their most vulnerable moments—patients battling terminal illnesses, particularly cancer, in the rural villages of Karnataka.
Palliative care is not about curing; it is about caring. It is about ensuring dignity, relief, and peace in the final chapters of life. For countless patients, hospitals have exhausted all curative options, leaving them with nowhere to turn. The need for palliative care is urgent, as cancer cases continue to rise, yet an accessible cure remains out of reach. We believe that every individual deserves a "good death"—one free from unnecessary pain, fear, and loneliness.
Our dedicated Palliative Care Team—comprising doctors, nurses, pastors, and social workers—travels across four districts: Bangalore Rural, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, and Hoskote. We go beyond medical care, offering holistic support that nurtures the body, mind, and soul. Our mission is not just to ease physical suffering but also to provide emotional, moral, and spiritual strength to both patients and their families.
But we dream bigger. Our ultimate goal is to expand this life-changing program across every district in Karnataka, ensuring that no patient, no family, and no community is left without the care and compassion they deserve.
Together, we can bring hope, relief, and dignity to those who need it most.
